Ampleforth (AMPL)

What is AMPL?

Serving as the foundational asset of the Ampleforth ecosystem, AMPL is an ERC-20 unit of account token that algorithmically adjusts its price to target a CPI-adjusted 2019 US Dollar.

This algorithmic adjustment is called rebasing. Once per day, the Ampleforth Protocol's supply will either expand, contract, or remain neutral depending on the free-floating price of the AMPL token.

  • A Neutral Rebase occurs when the price-per-AMPL token is within the neutral zone (+/- 5% of the target price).

  • A Positive Rebase occurs when the price-per-AMPL token is greater than the neutral zone (+5% of the target price)

  • A Negative Rebase occurs when the price-per-AMPL token is less than the neutral zone (-5% of the target price)

The exact daily rebase percentage is determined by the difference between supply and demand.

Below is a chart of AMPL's complete rebase history:

Note: These supply adjustments are gradual. The maximum amount that the supply can rebase each day is +/- 10%.
